Founded in the year 1875 in the heart of Switzerland’s Vallée de Joux, Audemars Piguet came to existence through Jules Louis Audemars and Edward Auguste Piguet, two young and promising watchmakers with a shared passion for complex movements. From the early days Audemars Piguet had their sights locked on creating high-complication watches, like perpetual calendars, minute repeaters, and chronographs.
However, one could definitely argue that Audemars Piguet’s revolutionary moment came in 1972 with the launch of the Royal Oak, designed by the legendary Gérald Genta. A bold move and design that redefined luxury watches with its groundbreaking stainless steel case with an octagonal bezel, and integrated bracelet—a stark contrast to the gold watches of the time. The Royal Oak wasn’t just a new design, it became a statement, blending sportiness with sophistication and this made it one of the most iconic timepieces ever made.
To this day, the company is still family-owned and Audemars Piguet continues to push the boundaries of watchmaking.. With haute horlogerie and avant-garde design in focus, they nowadays use cutting-edge technology and craftsmanship in order to push the industry forward through creating modern masterpieces.
