Two giants in a luxurious collaboration that spans over decades. Patek Philippe and Tiffany &
Co have a long history together and with the “Tiffany stamped” rose gold Aquanaut one of
the world´s most sought after watches suddenly became even rarer.
To explain the story we have to start with the model Aquanaut.
The original watch was launched by Patek Philippe in
1997 as a luxury sport watch to give the Patek Philippe collectors a piece that went well in
the water and more active situations.
As a steel watch both presented on rubber and a
stainless steel bracelet, the model was initially met with a bit of scepticism in the watch
world.
Now more than 25 years later the Aquanaut is one of the most popular luxury watches.
What adds rarity and provenance to this particular 5167R is the Tiffany & Co –
stamp on the dial.
Tiffany and Patek´s collaboration started as far back as 1851 when the
two companies partnered up for Patek to sell watches through Tiffany´s stores and the rest
is history.
Patek Philippe Aquanaut 5167R is a 40mm solid gold watch presented on a rubber
strap. Unlike the steel Aquanauts the 5167R version is only available on the classic
structured “tropical” rubber strap with deployment clasp in rose gold.
The watch features an
open case back where you can see the automatic movement. Taking a look at the dial you
will notice the special pattern and a date function which is the only complication of the
watch.
All in all this is an everyday luxury watch on solid gold with a really collectible twist.
The Tiffany Patek´s have only been available in extremely limited numbers and only sold in
the USA. You can rest assured that LuxuryWatches Stockholm have one in stock.
